NEPTUNE TWP. -- A 24-year-old township woman is in critical condition after a car hit her Saturday night, authorities said.
Amerese E. Ellis was crossing Memorial Drive shortly before 10 p.m. when she was struck by a 2009 Nissan Altima, said Charles Webster, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.
The driver of the Altima, Mia S. Capone, 25, of Lavallette, was traveling northbound on Memorial Drive and hit Ellis at the intersection of 7th Avenue, Webster said. Ellis was crossing the street from the west side to the east side.
Ellis was taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune where she is in critical condition as of Monday evening.
Webster said no summonses have been issued at this time but the investigation is ongoing.
