The put bull fell about 30 feet, was bitten by an alligator and nearly drowned before being rescued.
A New Jersey woman has been selected to adopt a dog tossed off a bridge and into a Louisiana swamp earlier this year, according to a report.
Dina Alborano will welcome an adult female pit bull given the name "Ally Gator" into her Allentown, Monmouth County, home when the animal is healthy enough to travel, according to a report on HeraldGuide.com.
Alborano learned of the dog's plight after seeing a video on Twitter detailing her rescue. She then beat out a number of other applicants who also wanted to provide the dog a home, the report said.
The dog was abandoned on Sept. 20 when someone stopped along Interstate 310 in St. Charles Parish and dropped her over the railing into the LaBranche Wetlands, NOLA.com reported. She fell about 30 feet, was bitten by an alligator and nearly drowned before being rescued from a grassy patch of land following a 45-minute effort, the report said.
Ally Gator also had a skin infection and has since developed a lesion on her tail, HeraldGuide.com said. She is believed to be 5 and 7 years old and was wearing a Florida Gators collar when rescuers saved her.
A local humane society covered her the expenses for her treatment.
