The Long Branch man pleaded guilty to possessing and distributing child pornography

TRENTON -- A Long Branch man has been sentenced to six years in prison for using his computer to "possess and distribute images" of child sexual abuse, Acting U.S. Attorney William E. Fitzpatrick announced in a statement.

Donald Haring, 62, who previously pleaded guilty to charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Freda L. Wolfson in Trenton federal court.

Haring admitted that he "knowingly used a computer from his home to share images and videos of child sexual abuse with other members of a publicly-available, peer-to-peer file-sharing network," the statement said.

He also admitted to possessing at least three videos and 600 images of child sexual abuse on his computer and other electronic devices, according to officials.

Haring was also sentenced to five years of supervised release.
