Authorities said the bodies were recovered from the Shrewsbury River side of Monmouth Beach
MONMOUTH BEACH -- Monmouth County authorities have recovered two bodies from the water in Monmouth Beach, officials confirmed Friday.
Investigators were on the scene Friday afternoon on the Shrewsbury River side of town, said Charlie Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office. Emergency personnel were near the Channel Club Marina.
Police received a call at 12:35 p.m. from someone reporting a body in the water, Webster said. The person, a male, was found by Monmouth Beach police near the end of a dock.
Divers from the prosecutor's office were called to assist in the investigation, during which a second body, a female, was found in the same area as the first. The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office and State Police assisted in the investigation.
Autopsies for both were scheduled for Saturday, Webster also said.
