Authorities said Matthew Kaminsky met several underage girls online and sent them naked pictures of himself
TRENTON -- A Matawan man on Friday admitted he used his email and instant messaging accounts to get images of child sexual abuse, authorities said.
Matthew Kaminsky, 50, pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Mary Cooper to one count of receiving child pornography, acting U.S. Attorney William Fitzpatrick said Friday. He admitted to meeting several underage girls though online chat applications and sending them naked pictures of himself, Fitzpatrick said in a press release.
Investigators learned of Kaminsky's actions when he began corresponding online with a 13-year-old girl in January 2015, the press release said. In those conversations, Kaminsky convinced the girl to send him nude photos of herself, the release said. Two months later, investigators found on Kaminsky's computers images and videos of child sexual abuse, he said. The girl later confirmed to authorities that she sent Kaminsky those photographs at his request, the release said.
Kaminsky faces between five and 20 years in prison when he is sentenced on June 28. He could also be subjected to a lifetime of supervised release.
Federal investigators seized from Kaminsky three laptop computers, two cell phones, an iPad, a computer tablet, two computer hard drives and a thumb drive, according to court documents.
