The Piano man told his audience at a recent concert at Madison Square Garden he built the motorcycle that broke down on Springsteen
Music man Billy Joel may have felt guilty that fellow musician Bruce Springsteen's motorcycle broke down on a Monmouth County road, almost stranding New Jersey's homegrown rocker.
At his concert at Madison Square Garden on Monday, the Piano Man fessed up to being the person who built that bike, which conked out during The Boss' ride on Veterans Day, according to reports.
A report in The Guardian said Joel told his audience he built Springsteen's bike at 20th Century Cycles, a gallery he owns in Oyster Bay, Long Island.
The Nov. 11 breakdown attracted much media attention after a group from the Freehold American Legion riding near Allaire State Park in Wall Township following a Veterans Day event rescued their fellow biker. Moments later they realized it was Springsteen - who happens to be a Freehold native.
After hearing about the incident, Joel told the crowd at the Garden, he called Springsteen to ask if the malfunctioning motorcycle was the one he gave the 'Born in the U.S.A.' performer.
When Springsteen revealed that it was, Joel offered his apologies, which Springsteen accepted by saying "No worries," the report said.
