Police said the vehicles were traveling in opposite directions when they crashed on Wednesday
MANALAPAN -- Three people were injured when a car and a small bus crashed in Manalapan Wednesday afternoon, authorities said Thursday.
Manalapan police Capt. Thomas Barstow said the crash occurred at 3:35 p.m. on Woodward Road between Millhurst and Village roads.
He said a four-door Lexus sedan operated was traveling north on Woodward Road and a Ford E350 passenger bus was traveling south on the same road when they crashed.
Barstow said the driver of the Lexus crossed over into the oncoming lane and sideswiped the bus.
From the impact, the bus went partially off the road and overturned onto its side, blocking the road, he said.
The driver of the Lexus injured her leg and the two female passengers in the bus suffered head injuries and complained of neck pain, he said. The injuries appeared to be minor, Barstow said.
The man driving the bus was not injured, he said.
Woodward Road was closed to all traffic in that area for nearly two hours while the vehicles were towed and debris was removed, he said.
Manalapan police officers were assisted by members of the Englishtown and Millhurst fire departments and the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad.
Patrolman Bryan Belardo is investigating the accident, Barstow said.
