The 79-year-old Point Pleasant man's Lexus crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer on Route 70.
WALL TOWNSHIP - Authorities have identified the 79-year-old man who was killed Friday after his sport utility vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer.
At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Friday, a Lexus SUV was traveling westbound on Route 70 when it crashed into the rear of a tractor-trailer, Carpino said.
The driver of the SUV - identified as John K. Ziegler, 79, of Point Pleasant - pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, Wall Township police Detective Lt. Greg Carpino said.
Route 70 was closed between Route 34 and Old Bridge Road for approximately two and half hours for the investigation.
Wall Community First Aid, South Wall Fire Department, MONOC paramedics and the New Jersey State Police responded to the scene.
