No injuries reported after Saturday morning rescue
MONMOUTH COUNTY -- A good Samaritan and a New York City fire department boat crew rescued eight people from a vessel that capsized off Sandy Hook on Saturday morning, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
The boat capsized near Romer Shoal Lighthouse in Sandy Hook Bay, a Coast Guard spokesman said.
Members of the FDNY's Marine Unit responded and brought the eight people to shore at Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn, officials said. There were no reported injuries.
The Coast Guard marked off the area to warn other boaters of the capsized vessel. Additional details were not immediately available.
