A May 23 traffic stop led to a narcotics arrest
OCEAN TOWNSHIP -- An Asbury Park man faces drug charges following a traffic stop last month that yielded cash and a significant quantity of drugs, police spokesman Det. Lt. Timothy Torchia said in a statement.
Det. Sgt. Thomas Burke and Det. Michael Melody pulled over a NIssan Altima on Rt. 35 South May 23 for equipment and moving violations, Torchia said. Police arrested the driver, Davon Cody, 26, after discovering he was in possession of 980 bags of heroin, two bags of cocaine, a digital scale with suspected drug residue and other narcotics paraphernalia, Torchia said. More than $1,800 in cash as well as Cody's vehicle were seized.
He has been charged with possession with intent to distribute, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and possession of paraphernalia. He was being held on $25,000 bail with no 10 percent cash option.
