The most famous bench in college hoops teaming up with the most wacky on-court team? If no NCAA bid, it could happen.
On Sunday night, all of Long Branch, New Jersey will be glued to Selection Sunday coverage. If justice is served, Monmouth University will receive an at-large bid and join the teams heading for March Madness next week.
If not, a back-up plan has emerged. The Harlem Globetrotters, scheduled to play in nearby Collins Arena in Lincroft, NJ from March 15-17, reached out to the Monmouth team about joining forces.

When asked by TMZ if they could make the bench, the Globetrotters--in their typical way--made the whole thing funny. But they did put the offer out there and acknowledge that they were fans of the team that has captivated college hoops fans since early-season upsets.
The world's most famous team pairing with college basketball's most famous bench would be must-see entertainment. While every single member of the Monmouth family has to be hoping this offer can't seriously be considered, it does show how big the Hawks' season story and stardom has risen over the past few months. Back in October, it's unlikely the Globetrotters even knew where Monmouth University was or what conference they played in.
Seton Hall-Monmouth in March Madness?
Now? They're not only a quality, tournament-caliber team; they're an entertainment machine.
