NY Waterway's new ferry to make maiden voyage next week (PHOTOS)

The first ferry built in New Jersey in anyone memory will set sail in revenue servcie on Tuesday when NY Waterway's Molly Pitcher begins moving commuters between New York and Monmouth County.

Commuters will begin sailing on the first ferry built in the state starting Tuesday, between New York and Monmouth County.

NY Waterway's newest ferry, the Molly Pitcher officially enters commuter service, starting with a 6:30 a.m., departure from the Belford ferry terminal in Middletown.  

The company's newest two newest ferries, the Molly Pitcher and the Betsy Ross, which is under construction, are the first commuter vessels constructed in New Jersey in at least a century. The Betsy Ross, is scheduled to enter service soon.

The new vessels will replace two ferries which now operate between the Monmouth County run ferry terminal in Belford and and Wall Street and the World Financial Center in Lower Manhattan, Paulus Hook in Jersey City and West 39th Street in Midtown.

The vessel provides commuters with 350 comfortable, high back seats with lumbar support, tiled restrooms on both the lower and upper deck, flat screen TV's and wi-fi, LED light and features a marble bar, serving coffee in the morning and cocktails on the way home.

The $5.25 million ferry was financed by NY Waterway.
