FREEHOLD - A 35-year-old Tinton Falls woman was indicted on four charges, including attempted murder, on Jan. 11 after she allegedly stabbed her boyfriend in front of his children.

At approximately 5 p.m. on July 6, Tinton Falls police responded to a reported stabbing at 20 Howard Avenue.

An investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the Tinton Falls Police Department determined that a resident of the home -- 35-year-old Natacha Perez -- allowed her 29-year-old boyfriend to spend the weekend at her home with his two children, but at some point she became angry and demanded he leave the residence, the prosecutor's office said in July.

The alleged victim gathered his things and left the residence, but while he waited outside for a ride with his children, Perez exited her home armed with two large knives. She threw one of the knives at the man, puncturing his chest, and then lunged at him with the second knife, authorities said.

The man, whose name was not released, was transported to a local hospital before police arrived.

Perez, who was subdued and disarmed by people at the scene, was later arrested and transported to the Tinton Falls Police Department.

On Jan. 11, she was indicted on one count each of first-degree attempted murder, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, third-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and fourth-degree unlawful possession of a weapon.

If convicted of the attempted murder charge, Perez could face a maximum sentence of up to 20 years in a state prison, subject to the provisions of the "No Early Release Act", which would require her to serve 85 percent of the sentence before becoming eligible for parole.
