MANALAPAN -- A pedestrian crashed into the windshield of a woman's car after he was hit while crossing the street, police said.

Lt. Edward Neisz said the pedestrian, only identified as a 37-year-old Manalapan man, was trying to cross the street at around 4 p.m. at the intersection of Tennent Road and Route 522 when he was struck by a car being driven by 20-year-old Brittany Phillips of Freehold Borough.

The impact of the collision caused the man to smash the car's windshield, Neisz said.

Phillips was issued a summons for improper passing.

The victim was taken to CentraSate Medical Center in Freehold for precautionary reasons, Neisz said. The man was able to get up and walk around after he was hit.
