SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS -- A thin layer of red paint blanketed a borough street Tuesday after a 5-gallon paint bucket broke when a truck crashed into a pole.
No one was injured in the collision, which occurred on Route 71 near Brighton Avenue, but the driver was issued a ticket for careless driving, police said.
Police said Eswin Tomas Rodas-Gomez, 38, of Silver Springs, Md., was driving a 2001 GMC pickup truck when he became distracted and crashed into a utility pole.
The impact of the collision caused a 5-gallon paint bucket to break open and spill out onto the roadway.
The Spring Lake Heights Fire Department assisted with the cleanup.
