Authorities said Malik was driving north on Route 35 in Ocean Township when he lost control of his car and crashed into a utility pole.
OCEAN TOWNSHIP -- An Eatontown man was killed early Tuesday when he lost control of his car and crashed on Route 35 in Ocean Township, police said.
The single-car crash occurred at 1:52 a.m. when Malik J. Edwards, 25, was driving north on the state highway in a 1995 Ford Mustang near Herbert Avenue and lost control of the car, said Detective Lt. Kevin Faller.
Faller said the car ran off the road and hit a utility pole, killing Edwards.
He said the crash is being investigated by Officer Alisa Martinez of the department's traffic safety bureau. Anyone with information about the crash or who may have witnessed it is asked to call the traffic safety bureau at 732-531-1800.
