The dogs will be up for adoption sometime next week, the agency said.
EATONTOWN -- The Monmouth County Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) announced Monday that it has received a grant to help transport a shipment of rescue dogs from a facility in Puerto Rico.
The dogs will arrive at the Monmouth County SPCA's Eatontown location Tuesday night and will be available for adoption next week, the agency said in a press release.
The Monmouth County SPCA is one of 27 animal welfare groups to receive a $150,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which partnered with Subaru of America. The funding went to organizations that have a higher chance of adoption, and where supplies are in demand.
In 2016, the Monmouth County SPCA cared for more than 5,000 animals and did 500 more adoptions than it did in 2015. The agency relies heavily on private donations to care for the animals it brings in.
Tuesday night's delivery will come from All Sato Rescue in Puerto Rico.
