UPPER FREEHOLD -- Two motorcycle riders were killed in a crash Sunday afternoon, police said.

The crash remains under investigation and few details were available as of 3:15 p.m., including information about the riders.

The crash was reported just before 2 p.m. on Route 524 and Sharon Station Road in Upper Freehold, according to Trooper Alejandro Goez, a spokesman for the New Jersey State Police. The State Police patrols Upper Freehold.

Goez said the crash involves two motorcycles and both riders were pronounced dead.

The State Police's Fatal Accident Investigation and Crime Scene units were responding to the crash site.

That part of the roadway was closed for the investigation, Goez said.

This is the second fatal crash in Upper Freehold in four days. On Thursday night, a 38-year-old township man died after he was injured in a collision on Route 526, police said.
