Ex-Christian Brothers teacher reportedly admits to sexual conduct with child

Joseph Prioli, a former Christian Brothers Academy teacher, admitted to engaging in sexual conduct with a child.

FREEHOLD - A 48-year-old Howell man has admitted to engaging in sexual conduct with a child on multiple occasions during an eight-year span, the Asbury Park Press reported.

Joseph Prioli pleaded guilty to two counts of child endangerment on Feb. 27, the report said. He admitting that he engaged in sexual conduct with a child on various dates between 2004 and 2006 starting when the child was 10, and then again between 2009 and 2012, the report said.

Prioli worked as a technology teacher at Christian Brothers Academy in Middletown for about 15 years prior to resigning from his job about a year before his December arrest.

A February indictment said Prioli knew the victim, but not through the school, the report said.

Prioli was also charged with sexual assault on a child, aggravated sexual assault involving penetration on a child, aggravated criminal sexual contact on the child and criminal sexual contact. Those charges will be dismissed under the terms of his plea agreement, the report said.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is expected to recommend Prioli be sentenced to five years in prison when he is sentenced June 9, according to the Asbury Park Press.
