Two families were displaced in a fire that destroyed a home on Atkins Avenye
NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP -- One firefighter suffered a minor injury in a three-alarm fire that left a township home uninhabitable on Monday morning, authorities said.
About 60 firefighters from Neptune Township and other municipalities responded to the blaze on Atkins Avenue, which broke out about 5 a.m, according to police Captain Michael McGhee.

Two families -- five people in all -- were displaced, the Red Cross said. The Red Cross is providing temporary lodging, as well as food and clothing to the families, it said.
One firefighter was treated for a puncture wound to his foot.
The fire was knocked down at about 6:40 a.m. It is being investigated by the Monmouth County Fire Marshal, McGhee said.
