"For unknown reasons, it crossed into the opposite travel lane and collided with vehicles #2 and #3, which were traveling northbound," the announcement stated.
The 23-year-old woman had to be extricated from her 2010 Honda CRV, and was flown by State Police helicopter to Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, where she was in stable condition on Sunday, police said.
The driver of the Hyundai also suffered serious injuries and was also flown to the medical center, where he was likewise listed in stable condition on Sunday, police said.
A 34-year-old Hamilton man who was driving the third vehicle, a 2009 Toyota XSC, was not injured, police said.
