State Police arrested Gary Blank III, 34, at his home in Red Bank early Saturday morning after weeks of communication about the fugitive's whereabouts with the Mendocino County Sheriff's Department, which took over the murder investigation in November, according to a release.

Blank was one of seven former marijuana trimmers employed by a growing operation wanted in connection with the fatal beating of Jeffrey Quinn Settler, State Police said.

Settler, who ran the operation on his property, was violently beaten in the middle of the night when the group allegedly set out to steal marijuana from their employer in November of 2011, police said.

Blank is currently being held in Mercer County jail, awaiting extradition to Mendocino County for prosecution.
