NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP -- A blaze ripped through several condominium buildings in Ocean Grove Friday morning and firefighters are continuing efforts to prevent the damage from spreading.
Firefighters from multiple fire companies were spraying several streams of water on multiple buildings lining Lake Wesley, which separates Ocean Grove and Asbury Park.
Flames and smoke poured out of the western side of a tall condominium building that sits across Seaview Avenue from multiple homes that were destroyed in the blaze.
As of 8 a.m., firefighters could be seen spraying water on what was left of those homes while other firefighters worked to prevent the fire from spreading to the rest of the adjacent condo building.
The fire occurred a short distance from the Ocean Grove boardwalk and the iconic casino and carousel house on the Asbury Park boardwalk.
Some of the homes appeared to be completely destroyed.
