The dispatcher used a pre-paid cell phone to text a message to the call center that there was a bomb in the building on Dec. 8, authorities said.
FREEHOLD TWP. - A former dispatcher for the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office was arrested Wednesday for texting a bomb threat to the office's 911 call center, authorities said.
Christopher Young, 27, of Freehold Borough, was charged with creating a false public alarm of a critical infrastructure for the Dec. 8 bomb threat, Monmouth County Sheriff Shaun Golden said.
Young, who was let go by the department in October, used a pre-paid cell phone to send a text message to the 911 dispatch center claiming there was a bomb in the building, Golden said.
Young was released during a probationary period because he didn't meet the proper training qualifications, a Sheriff's Office spokeswoman, Cynthia Scott, said.
Detectives were able to track the message back to Young's residence in Freehold Borough, Golden said. Young then admitted to sending the message, the sheriff said.
