Andrew Cook of Long Branch allegedly manufactured and distributed Methoxetamine from a lab in his house
A Long Branch man has been charged with operating a designer drug lab in his home and selling to customers who placed orders online, authorities said.
Andrew Cook's drug manufacturing facility was discovered when had a seizure at at his house on April 10 and a friend called 911, according to documents from the U.S. Attorney for New York's Southern District.
Cook, 23, allegedly sold Methoxetamine, a hallucinogenic drug, to people across the country using the company name DLL Co. or Downlow Labs.
When cops got a search warrant, they found numerous plastic baggies labeled "methoxetamine" containing an off-white powder, an array of shipping supplies, laboratory equipment and $14,500 cash, according to a criminal complaint.
Among the supplies and equipment were pipettes, masks, rubber gloves, beakers, digital scales, funnels and a pill press.
The shipping supplies included United States Postal Service Priority Mail boxes, padded envelopes, and empty bags labeled "methoxetamine," authorities said.
In addition, investigators found a handwritten note with calculations for dilution factors and numerous plastic tubs.
The case is being prosecuted out of New York because authorities found an invoice that recorded the shipment of five grams of Methoxetamine to an address in Manhattan in exchange for $381.
Cook is charged with one count of distributing and possessing with intent to distribute a controlled substance analogue
Methoxetamine is part of the arylcyclohexylamine class of drugs, court papers say. Phencyclidine (PCP) is also among those types of substances.
