Crowd gathers for second annual boardwalk annual event.
ASBURY PARK -- Scores of costumed mermaids descended on the Asbury Park boardwalk Saturday for the second annual Asbury Park Promenade of Mermaids parade.
The event features dress up pirates, mermaids and other characters of all ages. A costume contest offers a host of prizes from local merchants for adults and children, according to the parade organizer's website.
The Promenade of Mermaids is not the only costume festival held in Asbury Park. The city has also played host for thousands in its Zombie Walk.
