Andre Harris is charged with attempting to murder a woman in Linden, and subsequently killing her in Long Branch.
ELIZABETH -- The man accused of killing a woman and burying her body in a Long Branch backyard is scheduled to be appear in a Union County court Friday on charges he attempted to killed the same woman months earlier in Linden.
Andre Harris, 32, of Long Branch, is to appear before Judge Brenda Coppola Cuba on a two counts of attempted murder in the shooting of Tyrita Julius and her daughter as they were getting in their car in Linden on Nov. 24, 2015.
Harris and a co-defendant, Jennifer Sweeney, 33, of Tinton Falls, were arrested last week and charged with killing Julius and then burying her body. Julius had been missing for months before her remains were discovered.
Harris and Sweeney were already in court in Monmouth County on the murder charges.
It is uncertain if Harris will be brought to court in Union County or if there will be a hearing with him appearing via a television connection with the Monmouth County jail, where he is being held.
Sweeney was to appear the Union County court Wednesday by teleconference, but a glitch prevented the connection.
Sweeney's lawyer, Edward Bertucio, argued that bail for his client should be reduced from $500,000 to $250,000. A judge rejected the request to reduce bail.
On Thursday, a judge in Monmouth County, where Sweeney faces the murder charge, agreed to reduce her bail from $1.5 million to $1.25 million.
Julius was shot four times, and her daughter was wounded as they were getting in their car in front of the Linden home in November 2015.
Julius was still recovering from her wounds when on March 8 she was reported missing after failing to return from a trip to Long Branch where she had gone to visit Sweeney, authorities said.
An intense search was conducted. Last week, authorities arrested Sweeney and Harris after Julius' body was found.
