Broken taillight leads to 4 arrests on drug charges

The four Somerset County residents were in possession of marijuana, cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP - Four Somerset County residents were charged with drug-related offenses Tuesday night after the vehicle they were traveling in was pulled over for broken taillight.

At approximately 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Ocean Township Police Officer Den Schoch was on patrol in a marked police car in the area of State Highway 35 and Deal Road when he observed a black 1989 Volvo with a broken light traveling south on the highway, police said.

Schoch stopped car near Allaire Avenue and determined the occupants were in possession of marijuana, drug paraphernalia and cocaine.

The driver, Russell Pitcher, 25, of Somerset, was charged with possession of under 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also issued two motor vehicle summonses, police said.

The vehicle's three passengers, Nicholas Consoli, Kevin Galazin, and Andrew Rockhill, all 25, of Somerset,  were also charged with drug possession, police said.
