A 79-year-old Point Pleasant man was pronounced dead at the scene.
WALL TOWNSHIP -- A man was killed Friday morning after his sport utility vehicle collided with a tractor-trailer on Route 70, police said.
The victim, only identified as a 79-year-old Point Pleasant resident, was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash, which occurred around 10:40 a.m., Lt. Greg Carpino said in a news release.
The man was driving a Lexus SUV westbound on Route 70 when he crashed into the rear end of a tractor-trailer, Carpino said.
Route 70 was closed between Highway 34 and Old Bridge Road for approximately two and half hours for the investigation.
Wall Community First Aid, South Wall Fire Department, MONOC paramedics and the New Jersey State Police responded to the scene.
