Ryan Dawe was being held in the cell after police say they found him hiding in a home's garage with stolen items on him.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP -- A township resident who was being held in a jail cell at police headquarters clogged the toilet with the intention of flooding the cell, police said.

Ryan Dawe, 18, was charged with burglary and theft after police found him Tuesday hiding in the garage of a Glenview Drive home that he burglarized, Detective Lt. Timothy Torchia said in a press release.

Police were in the area after receiving a report around 2:20 a.m. of someone knocking on doors. Police saw a door to a home open, and after searching the house, found Dawe in the garage with stolen items from the home, Torchia said.

While at police headquarters, Dawe attempted to flood the jail cell by clogging the toilet with toilet paper rolls, according to the criminal complaint.

He was charged with disorderly conduct, and taken to the Monmouth County jail and bail was set at $15,000.

Dawe was also charged in connection with another house burglary on Glenview Drive and breaking into two cars on Monday.
