COLTS NECK -- If you hear loud noises or feel the ground shaking Wednesday, it's most likely due to military or naval exercises at two New Jersey bases.

A series of controlled detonations are scheduled to take place between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. at Naval Weapon Station Earle in Monmouth County on Wednesday. The base advised residents online Tuesday that the disposal "may cause ground shaking and considerable noise."

If you live in South Jersey, you may hear sounds from another base.

Officials at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst previously announced that mortar training exercises would take place this week. Residents near the base may hear explosions during the day and at night.

The noise may travel farther due to current overcast conditions, according to officials.
