The crash occurred in front of The Cabin restaurant on Route 33 Sunday
HOWELL -- Authorities have released the identity of the man killed in a two-vehicle crash in front of The Cabin restaurant on Route 33 Sunday afternoon, authorities said.
Larry Campbell, Jr., 44, of Eatontown, was driving east on Route 33 in a 2007 Ford F250 when a 28-year-old Pompton Lakes man operating a 2014 Subaru Legacy tried to turn left into the restaurant's parking lot at about 3:28 p.m., Charles Webster, a spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, said in a news release.
The Subaru collided with Campbell's Ford pick-up, causing the Ford to overturn.
Campbell was ejected from the pick-up in the crash and pronounced dead at the scene, Website.
Campbell's wife was taken to a local hospital for serious injuries.
Webster told NJ Advance Media a blood sample from the driver of the Subaru showed the presence of alcohol in his system. Toxicology results, however, are pending and "those results will assist in determining the role that alcohol played in the collision," he said.
The crash remains under investigation by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team and Howell Police.
