The school of likely juveniles was seen Tuesday morning
MONMOUTH BEACH -- A small group of what were believed to be young sharks was seen swimming near an Ocean Avenue condo complex Tuesday morning, app.com reported.
Police said they received calls when residents spotted the telltale dorsal fins around 9:30 a.m. less than 10 feet from shore. One of the responding officers took video of the site. The group of six sharks was each about three or four feet long.
Marie Levine, director of the Shark Research Institute in Princeton, told app.com the sharks generally prefer deeper waters. The school seen Tuesday were likely young sharks exploring their environment, she also said.
