Uber rides to and from Jenkinson's Bar and Grill are $10 off with a promo code
POINT PLEASANT -- Between now and Labor Day weekend, Jenkinson's Boardwalk Bar and Grill patrons can get $10 off their Uber rides, thanks to a new partnership between the boardwalk business and Uber.
The idea came about when Jenkinson's Director of Marketing Toby Wolf attended a presentation hosted by Uber.
"I went 'wow, that's a really great win/win for Jenkinson's and our customers,'" she said.
She's been working on the project since the winter.
This isn't the first time Uber's worked to combat drunk driving, said spokesperson Matt King. He cited a partnership with Evesham earlier this year that led to a 55 percent decrease in drunk driving arrests. Uber also has a history working with Mothers Against Drunk Driving.
He emphasized the importance of the program around the Jersey shore because of the increase in population this time of year.
"There are more folks and they're enjoying ourselves and having a good time which is great, and this is a safe alternative," he said.
Wolf noted that a lot of Jenkinson's patrons are in their 20s or 30s and are already using Uber.
"So connecting with them on an app that they're already on is a bonus," she said.
The program can also help alleviate traffic and parking issues.
"We're thinking about this from all angles," said Wolf.
The promotion is available between Thursday through Sunday nights. Those en route to Jenkinson's between 9 p.m. and 12 a.m. should use "GoJENKS" as the promo code and enter 300 Ocean Avenue, Pt. Pleasant Beach, New Jersey 08742 as the destination.
Those leaving Jenkinson's between 12 a.m. and 3 a.m. should use "LeaveJENKS" as the code, with the same pick up location.
