Besides selecting an overall favorite spot at the Jersey Shore, this year voters were also asked to pick best beaches in each coastal county
OCEAN CITY -- Ocean City, a perennial favorite of beach-goers, was named New Jersey's top beach again on Thursday.
Ocean City has topped the favorites list since the New Jersey Sea Grant Consortium started the rankings in 2008 and this year was no exception even after the research and education organization tweaked the contest this year.
Rather than list the top 10 beaches selected from among New Jersey's coastal counties, the consortium asked voters to pick their first- and second- favorites from each of those four counties and then pick an overall best.

Besides receiving consistent accolades from area residents and visitors, Ocean City earlier this year won Coastal Magazine's Best Beach in America competition.

The announcements were made Thursday morning at Music Pier in -- where else? -- Ocean City.
