NEPTUNE TOWNSHIP -- An Asbury Park man has been charged with seriously injuring a Neptune Township man in a shooting after breaking into his home and robbing him, authorities said Thursday.
Michael T. Rice, 21, was charged with attempted murder, armed robbery, armed burglary, and weapons offenses in the Sept. 11 attack on a Monmouth Avenue resident, said Charlie Webster, spokesman for the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

He said Rice was arrested Tuesday night at an address on Myrtle Street in Neptune.
Rice, of Langford Street in Asbury Park, is accused of climbing through a back bathroom window of a home at 300 Monmouth Avenue and stealing gold necklaces, MCM designer handbags and a safe, according to the complaint filed by Neptune Detective Vincent Letsch
During the robbery, Rice allegedly shot the occupant in the chest and the pelvis, the complaint said.
Webster did not have information on whether the men knew each other or why the house was targeted.
Police received a 911 call at 3:45 a.m. on Sept. 11 about shots fired during a home invasion. The victim, who was identified only by his initials M.W., had been in critical condition.
Rice was being held in the Monmouth County Jail in Freehold in lieu of $700,000 cash bail.
