Steady rain with the possibility of thunderstorms in the forecast for Monday

Several communities across the state have cancelled scheduled parades in honor of Memorial Day Monday due to rainy weather in the forecast.

The rains are being carried up the coast by Tropical Depression Bonnie, and while Jersey is expected to be spared heavy winds or strong tides, the day is forecast to be a washout with thunderstorms possible.

In Paramus, the parade has been cancelled and services have been moved from Memorial School to the senior center. Those services begin at 10 a.m.

Parades have also been cancelled in Roselle, Mountainside, Union and Roselle Park in Union County. In Union, a service is still scheduled for 11 a.m. at the VFW, 2012 High St. Roselle Park's previously scheduled memorial service will also proceed as planned.
