The juveniles, both 15, had guns with hollow-point ammunition, police said
ASBURY PARK -- Asbury Park police on Friday arrested a pair of juveniles on charges of having high-grade marijuana and guns with illegal ammunition, authorities said.
A third person, who tried to interfere with police, was also arrested in the roundup on Washington Avenue, police said Saturday.
Two juveniles and an adult were arrested around 6 p.m. after members of the department's Street Crimes Unit received information about two people with weapons outside a Washington Avenue home, said Officer Michael Casey, a department spokesman.
Casey said one of the juveniles, who are both 15, had a .38-special revolver handgun and the other had a 9mm handgun. Both of the guns were loaded with hollow-point bullets, he said.
Police also seized 13 bags of high-grade marijuana, Casey said.
They were charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of hollow-point ammunition and possession of marijuana, Casey said. They were taken to a youth detention facility to await a court hearing, he said.
Police also arrested Zamir Wordsworth, 19, of Neptune Township, and charged him with obstruction, Casey said. He said Wordsworth was later released on a summons.
